Nanci Tessier has joined Art & Science Group as senior vice president. Tessier has served as a leader in higher education, and particularly in enrollment management and admissions, for 34 years. As senior vice president at Art & Science Group, Tessier will provide considerable insight in developing market-informed strategies for a wide variety of institutions.
“I’ve known Nanci for 15 years and had many opportunities to observe her interactions with presidents, provosts, senior development officers, and trustees. It’s very clear that her ideas and advice are not only trusted and valued by institutional leaders but also help to inform the long-term strategies and values of the institution she serves,” said Richard Hesel, principal of Art & Science Group. “We are thrilled to have Nanci joining the firm. Her experience and expertise will undoubtedly benefit our clients in very important ways.”
Prior to joining Art & Science Group, Tessier served as the first chief enrollment officer at three institutions. As vice provost for enrollment management at Boston College, she oversaw the offices of enrollment management, undergraduate admission, and student services – including registrar, bursar and financial aid. Tessier was previously the vice president for enrollment management at the University of Richmond and the vice president for college marketing and enrollment management at Saint Anselm College.
Under Nanci’s leadership, both Boston College and the University of Richmond enrolled their most diverse and academically accomplished classes in their history while exceeding net tuition revenue goals. During her tenure, Saint Anselm College experienced record-breaking applicant pools, a decrease in the admit rate, increased quality of the enrolling class, and increased net revenue. While at the University of Richmond, Nanci led a strategic market study, which led to the creation of “The Richmond Guarantee” that provided each undergraduate student with a $4,000 fellowship to support a summer internship or faculty-mentored research project. Her admission experience also includes serving as director of admission at Smith College and the Roger Williams University School of Law as well as various roles for Barnard College, New York University, Rochester Institute of Technology, and the Northfield Mount Hermon School.

Tessier earned a Bachelor of Arts degree cum laude from Boston College and a Master of Education degree from Colorado State University.
