DIRECTOR OF CLIENT RELATIONS & COMMUNICATION
Art & Science Group, a consulting firm specializing in higher education strategy and market research, seeks an intelligent, dynamic and experienced professional to lead and provide vision for the firm’s marketing, communication and business development efforts including the management of the marketing and communications plan, budget, and team. In partnership with the firm’s principals, the director of client relations and communication will be responsible for leading the identification and generation of sales with new and existing clients, further developing and managing relationships within our existing client base, and overseeing the firms marketing and communication efforts.
The ideal candidate will have: extensive knowledge of higher education and independent schools and familiarity with consulting in those sectors; professional ambition as well as team spirit; experience interacting with C-level executives as well as developing and maintaining relationships across organizations; exceptional written and oral communication skills; and strong management skills. Personal qualities desired include a dedicated work ethic, creative and strategic thinker, good listening skills, and a positive style that motivates others.
Identify and generate sales with new clients, develop pitches and sales presentations.
Increase engagement of the firm’s constituencies through effective communication and marketing.
Enhance Art & Science Group’s visibility among the education sector while positioning the principals as thought leaders in higher education and independent schools regionally and nationally; lead media relations efforts.
Identify and organize conference/speaking and thought leadership opportunities for leadership team members.
Draft proposals and other communication to higher education prospects and for various marketing purposes.
Manage the firm’s brand assets: visual identity, messaging, website, email marketing, social media, among others.
Establish and adhere to institutionalized rhythms and processes that stimulate word-of-mouth marketing, support business development and, ultimately, positively impact the bottom line.
Manage the overall sales pipeline; enable tracking and forecasting via Salesforce.
Provide strategic leadership for the client relations team
Desired Qualifications / Experience
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5-7 years of experience in communication, marketing, business development, fundraising, or a related field; advanced degree preferred
Solid decision-making skills and outstanding judgment, including discretion in the management of confidential information and comfort dealing with senior executives
Experience in education/nonprofit sector and, in particular, managing people and budgets in that environment
Demonstrated attention to detail, ability to prioritize, work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced team environment
Proficiency with CRM platform, preferably Salesforce Lightening, to manage the firm’s business development and marketing efforts
Knowledge and effective use of print media as well as digital marketing tools including content management systems, email marketing, and social media
