More About Tamara
Tamara’s interest in non-profit and public service work started early as a National Service Member with the AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps, one of President Bill Clinton’s civil service programs. AmeriCorps gave her the opportunity to participate in a number of projects designed to benefit underrepresented communities. Since then, Tamara’s work has included everything from building databases for advocacy outreach for national health associations to attracting, training, and supervising hundreds of volunteers for a North Carolina food bank. She has also developed organizational literature and public communications strategies, including website content and layout, for local and national non-profits.
Before joining Art & Science Group’s North Carolina office, Tamara was the Communications and Resource Development Officer for a national non-profit dedicated to raising public awareness through student documentary productions on the social issues and conditions affecting people in developing communities. There she initiated strategic and operational planning, created an interactive resource guide for students on how to plan, fund, and implement documentary films in developing countries and established strategic partnerships with documentary equipment retailers to benefit the efforts of the organization. She also produced and developed scripts for short films on grassroots educational and development efforts she documented in Kenya.
An independent media enthusiast with a penchant for run-on sentences and yoga, Tamara is a former Floridian who still believes that a little time at the beach cures just about anything.
